What To Expect

Making an Appointment

We understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting, and you may not know where to start. If you are unsure who to contact, or have any questions about our services, you are welcome to submit a general enquiry through our Contact Us page. If you would like to talk to one of our Psychologists specifically, each Psychologist manages their own appointments, allowing you to get in touch directly with any questions or enquiries, and receive a direct response in return. Each individual Psychologist's contact information is available on our Contact Us page.

What will my sessions involve?

Initially, your Psychologist will focus on getting to know you, and ensuring you feel comfortable in session. In the first one to two sessions, your Psychologist will ask you to 'paint a picture' of what you have been experiencing, so they can understand your needs and concerns. You may be asked to fill in some questionnaires and provide information on any relevant history and past events. While this can feel overwhelming, your Psychologist will always move at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Your Psychologist will work collaboratively with you to identify your needs and goals, and the steps to achieve them. They will continue to discuss and revise these with you over time. We value your input - you can always ask questions or raise concerns at any time.

Referrals

A referral is not needed to make an appointment or attend sessions with a Psychologist. However, some people may wish to obtain a referral and Mental Health Plan in order to claim rebates through Medicare. To do this, you would need to make an appointment with your Doctor to discuss your concerns and see if you are eligible for a Mental Health Plan or another type of referral.

Psychologists may also accept referrals through DVA, NDIS or other referral pathways. It is best to check with your individual Psychologist which referrals they can accept.

Fees

Fees are set by each Psychologist individually and for each specific type of service. Please reach out to our Psychologists directly for any questions regarding fees.

While our Psychologists aim to keep fees as manageable as possible, it is important to note that rebates from Medicare or private health generally do not cover the full fee, so out of pocket expenses may still apply. We encourage you to discuss any concerns regarding fees with your Psychologist.

Private Health Insurance may also be claimed if your policy covers Psychology, however, you would need to check the details of your individual policy. Medicare rebates and Private Health Insurance cannot both be claimed for the same session.
